The Rev Elias Mendes-Gomes was inducted as the minister of Faith Presbyterian Church, Ft. McMurray, on December 15, 2019.

 

 

 


The Rev Daniel Cho, Moderator of the 2018 General Assembly, spoke with a gathering of Presbyterians from several of the congregations of the Presbytery on Friday, February 15 at Mill Woods Presbyterian Church.  Here are some pictures of that event.

19 youth and young adults and 2 adult advisors from the Presbytery attended Canada Youth 2018, July 2-7, at Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario. Click here to watch a 6-minute video in which young people from our Presbytery and some of their adult guides talk about their experience at CY2018. The CY2018 participants led a service of worship at Dayspring Presbyterian Church (11445 – 40 Avenue) on Sunday evening, August 19, at 7 pm.


   Christine and William Ball

were inducted as the Ministry Team at Mill Woods Presbyterian Church on June 20, 2018. William is a Minister of Word and Sacrament. Christine is a Diaconal Minister. They come to Edmonton from Ottawa – where William served as Minister of  Westminster Presbyterian Church and Christine was the Synod Area Education Consultant. Welcome to the Presbytery!


  The Westmount Rebuild

Here is what the Westmount Worship Centre and the front row of townhouses looked like on September 15, 2017. See here for background information.  The 16 townhouse units (with 3 or 5 bedrooms) are now fully occupied. The custom-built DayCare centre in the basement of the Worship Centre has spaces for 40 children. Janet Taylor ordained and inducted as minister of Braeside and Westmount Churches on July 8

Recently joined in a two-point charge, Westmount and Braeside congregations welcomed the Rev. Janet Taylor as their minister in a service conducted by the Presbytery of Edmonton-Lakeland in the Braeside church building. Here is the charge delivered by the Rev. John Dowds to Janet Taylor and the Westmount and Braeside congregations.

Braeside Church serves the city of St. Albert. The Westmount church property in North Glenora has recently been redeveloped as a small chapel with several housing units (see the Westmount Rebuild story above).


   Jean Bryden Retires

The Rev Jean Bryden retired from the ministry on June 30, 2017. She came to Edmonton as the minister of Strathcona Presbyterian Church in June 2008 and, when Strathcona amalgamated with Mill Woods Congregation, September 2014, Jean became the minister of the amalgamated congregation.
